New Way® Air Bearings offers air bushings in English units to fit into your current shaft-based application. Our air bushings provide Frictionless Motion®️ using our Porous Media Technology™ that eliminates wear and error motion caused by traditional ball bearings.
The bushings are constructed out of a naturally porous carbon substrate into a hollow cylinder encased in an aluminum housing. Air is forced through the winding passageways which results in a uniform, stiff cushion of air between the bushing and shaft. The reliable stiffness also allows for precise positioning during both linear and rotary motion.
Since our bearings use air to create Frictionless Motion®️, components never touch so maintenance downtimes are drastically reduced saving you both time and money. The bearings never need lubrication which makes them ideal for cleanroom environments. The millions of submicron holes covering the surface of the bearing guarantee even air pressure distribution making crashes a thing of the past.
Download our air bushing installation guide for the step-by-step process on how to hard mount a New Way Air Bushing in one of our standard mounting blocks, as well as how to set up an air bushing to work with precision shafting.
Although our English air bushings come in a variety of sizes to fit a wide selection of shafts, we can also create custom sizes to fit your specific application. Contact New Way today to discuss how our porous media air bushings can enhance your process.
The unique use of porous media in air bushings makes them ideal for clean room use. Not only is less air used in air bushings when compared to orifice-based air bearings, but the air is evenly distributed by the porous media. Both of these features minimize the potential of currents or eddies in the clean room and its damaging impacts on production.
Another benefit of the use of porous media is its ability to perform as a sub-micron filter for the air emitted. Testing indicates the bearing satisfies the requirements of Class 1 (ISO class 3) cleanliness, with airborne particulate concentrate limits of less than 1,000 x 0.1μm particles / m3.
Porous carbon air bushings can be easily integrated into your current processes or used in an entirely new application. Here are a few examples that have incorporated our air bushings.
New Way® offers English unit air bushings for all your rotary motion applications.
