Applications for Agriculture

Rotary Motion

Our air bearings enable high-speed rotary motion without the concern for eventual spalling and replacement farmers must contend with when dealing with typical ball bearings. For operating equipment like tractors, tillers and harvesters or for use in silo unloaders and grain elevators, our rotary motion products offer the contact bearing replacement you’ve been looking for. Radial Air Bearings, Air Spindles and Thrust Bushings all enable rotary motion through simple, retrofit ready designs.

Conveying

For the movement and transport of bulk produce through a sorting and processing facility, our air bearings can be used for high speed conveyance without needing to worry about periodic maintenance or external operating conditions. Conveyor-based belt drives for produce transport can be readily retrofitted with products like our New-Seal, a revolutionary product which provides rotary motion while sealing itself against infiltration up to 35 PSI.

Durability

Owing to their non contact nature, air bearings do not degrade due to friction or traditional wear and tear. As a result, they far outlast comparable contact bearings, even ones which are specially sealed and lubricated for harsh environs.

Self-Cleaning Operation

Porous media air bearings operate by producing positive pressure through the bearing face. This pressure in turn acts to push particulates away from the effective area, cleaning itself while in operation.

Self-Sealing Functionality

Air bearings can be used to seal against external particle infiltration, and provide rotary motion at the same time. This is a valuable combination of traits for bearings expected to operate outside in unpredictable weather conditions.

Safe for Food

Our bearings are designed to deliver solutions in the most sanitary environments. While agricultural sorting and processing may not need to meet cleanroom standards, the lack of outgassing lubricant and other bearing materials into the environment makes non-contact air bearings extremely clean-running and food safe.
