New Way Air Bearings® has always focused on expanding into new applications for our externally pressurized Porous Media™, but what about the applications where you aren’t using air at all—at least for the time being? All of our air bearings boast the capability to operate off process gases, and in this infographic, our partners at IBS Precision Engineering helped us demonstrate that our air bearings can be cycled upwards of 10 million times without air during the startup cycles in a refrigeration compressor.
The results show a remarkably resilient product even when operating in a journal bearing capacity before process gases allow for pressurization of the bearing. Download the infographic to learn more!
Each year the ASPE student challenge invites teams of student engineers from universities across the world to design and manufacture a precision machining apparatus, beginning with a set of tools, motion systems and encoders provided by sponsors of the event.
On November 1, 2019, students from E.T. Richardson Middle School in Springfield, PA visited New Way Air Bearings for a rare, behind the scenes look at air bearing manufacturing. Participating in ‘What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?’, students spent a day interviewing employees, filming them at work, and gaining a new and exciting perspective on manufacturing.
