New Way® Air Bearings Is ISO 9001:2015 Certified

Certification to the latest ISO Standard Reinforces New Way’s Customer Commitment

On September 2, 2018, New Way® Air Bearings, the world’s largest independent manufacturer of porous media air bearing products, achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, the latest ISO standard designation. New Way received its certificate from the same independent auditing firm that evaluated New Way when it achieved its original ISO 9001:2000 Certification back in November, 2008. This further demonstrates the organization’s commitment to quality-of-service standards established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

To verify that ISO initiatives are ongoing and quality improvement continuous, TUV USA, Inc. conducted its annual quality management system review with an eye to the new ISO 9001:2015 standards. This audit addressed all areas of New Way’s operation – from engineering, product design and manufacturing, to delivery and customer service. This audit process resulted in New Way’s previous certification achieving ISO 9001:2008 standards, with a date-of-revision starting October 15, 2017.

“In many ways, this third certification is more important than the first & second,” said Nick Hackett, President and CEO of New Way Air Bearings. “That’s because it demonstrates the fundamental and ongoing commitment to quality that we’ve had here since New Way’s inception. It’s the process that’s important. The results…and the certification…show our progress, and reflect the hard work everyone has invested. This demonstrates the commitment we have to our customers.”

According to United Registrar Services, ISO 9001:2015 certification is a significant achievement. The new standards clarify the existing requirements of ISO 9001:2008 based on years of implementation experience worldwide. Certification reflects an organization’s solid foundation for continuous improvement through data use and analysis.

Adopted in 1987 by the International Organization for Standardization in Geneva, Switzerland, the ISO quality system was developed in order to establish an internationally recognized standard of quality. Recognized in more than 150 countries, the ISO 9001:2015 standard places a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction, management responsibility, continual improvement, and organizational performance measurement.

“Effective quality management is indispensable,” said Kelly Read, New Way Air Bearings Compliance Supervisor. “Customers want to be confident that they are doing business with an organization that can meet or exceed their requirements in a timely manner. Because it is an internationally recognized quality management system, ISO 9001:2015 certification gives New Way customers a reason to have that confidence.”

The ISO 9001:2015 standard specifies Quality Management System (QMS) requirements focused on an organization’s ability to meet and improve upon customer satisfaction and quality requirements. As part of the certification process, New Way has established, maintained and improved upon its own QMS to ensure that the company’s customer support organization continues its commitment to customer satisfaction.

“The additional structure that we have added as part of the ongoing processes surrounding ISO 9001:2015 have enabled us to continue to improve and streamline our operations,’ noted Rich Hesse, New Way Technical Sales Manager. “Ultimately this is to the customer’s benefit.”

New Way’s Original Certification

New Way’s original road to certification began in November of 2007 with the compilation of all existing internal processes. Working with this repository, the company developed and implemented a thorough Quality Management System (QMS) that conforms to the strict requirements of the ISO 9001:2000 standards.

To verify that ISO initiatives were achieved, a comprehensive quality management system review was implemented that addressed all areas of operation – from engineering, product design and manufacturing to delivery and customer service. A series of exhaustive internal process audits followed. Then, in September of 2008, United Registrar Services conducted the official certification audits, resulting in the full certification announced on November 14, 2008.

The certificate confirms that New Way’s internal quality management system complied with the ISO 9001:2000 requirements of that time period.
