Mounting Components

For precision applications utilizing the New Way FPD Precision Chuck, specialized mounting is required in order to maintain the critical precision function of the arrayed components. A precision plate is required to keep the tops of the arrayed precision chucks level in the same plane. Matching precision between the plate and the base of the precision chuck is also critical, in order to create the required pressure seal. Both vacuum and air pressure are accessed from the bottom of the New Way precision chuck through the plate.

The chuck itself is bolted down to the precision plate using two screws. The plate features an opening beneath each precision chuck in the array to allow access to the vacuum manifold. The vacuum necessary for optimal function requires volume to build up in the chamber created inside the precision chuck through the precision plate from the vacuum manifold.

Air Fittings, which provide the necessary air pressure, are also applied from beneath. Note: The side port on the precision chuck is a test gauge/ test port to test the pressure of the bearing. This can also be used as an air supply port or a vacuum port if the application calls for using the side port.
