The practices outlined here illustrate the commitment that New Way has made to the world’s natural resources...as well as to our own most important resources, New Way employees, and the communities in which we live and work.  Through these recycling, air quality, and safe storage programs – and more – New Way is helping to ensure the longevity of the environment and the security of the community.

Recycling

• All the coolants used at New Way are recycled. Chemicals used in manufacturing processes are filtered into a chemical bed located in the base of each machine.  They are then recycled and incorporated into the manufacturing process again.  Coolant beds are periodically emptied into drums for reclamation by an independent contractor.
• Metals, including aluminum and steel, are also collected in each machine base for recycling. Recyclable metal shavings are collected via a filtration system, pumped into drums, and collected by an independent contractor for distribution to a recycling facility.
• A waste recycling program throughout the company ensures that all cardboard and paper products are sent to a recycling center for proper recycling.

Air Quality

• Vent hoods in operation rooms ensure proper ventilation of chemicals used in manufacturing.
• A carbon dust recovery system prevents carbon from spilling into the atmosphere and jeopardizing the health of New Way employees and the community.
• Independent vacuum hoses in grinding rooms collect dust particles and clean the air through a filtration system. Clean, filtered air is then redistributed into the facility. 
• Self-contained carbon dust collecting systems on two machines further ensure proper ventilation.
• Mist collectors prevent dust from scattering in grinding areas.

Safe Storage

• Propane used for lifting machinery is stored securely.
• Chemicals and flammables are stored away from the facility, and drums containing chemicals are grounded to prevent sparks.
